Wall of Issues from 2009 Local Election -V- 2011 General Election: What has changed?

Here are some of the issues raised through the Partnerships consultation for the 2009 Local Elections with agencies and groups in the Ballyfermot area.  These work sheets were on display during the "Questions and Ansewers" session that took place in the Civic Centre that year.

During our Annual and Strategic Planning for the coming weeks we will be approaching community stake holders to ask these questions again.  Are these still important issues that affect day to day living in the area?
Do you have other issues you would like to raise?  As the General Election looms ever closer, do you have questions to ask the candidates canvassing for your vote?  Feel free to comment below:

Equality and Rights Alliance 2011 Election Campaign

THREE THINGS YOU CAN DO

Equality & Rights Alliance got Election 2011 underway on Monday January 17th with the launch of our Make Your Mark campaign.  You can read about it here: http://www.eracampaign.org/press-coverage-1/m:5,145

As a coalition of 155 organisation and activists, we can potentially rally up to a quarter of a million people to Make their Mark for Equality and Human Rights in Election 2011
We can only do this with the help and support of ERA members.

We are aware of the pressure you are all working under and the need to ensure that your own specific messages are relayed to candidates.  However, we hope that the message that equality and human rights matter can dovetail with your specific issues of concern.  Below are three simple start-up actions.  Over the coming weeks we will send you updates and more materials for easy campaigning.

1.       Declare it on the doorsteps

·         Download and circulate our cut-out election door-hanger and display it on, or keep close to, your front door: http://www.eracampaign.org/uploads/Door%20hanger-1.
·         Download and circulate the ERA election campaign poser: http://www.eracampaign.org/uploads/Election%202011%20poster.pdf
·         Ask your candidates, and their canvassers, if they will protect and promote equality and human rights.  Find out what their views are and let us know.

2.           It’s the Vote that Counts

·         Send the link to your members/colleagues/friends.
·         We have produced a short video.  Watch it at: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sBB4ss2xF-0 and send the link to colleagues/friends
·         Upload the video to your organisation web-page and your facebook page.
·         Send it to your local candidates.

3.           Social Media

·         Add our election twibbon to your personal /your organisation facebook and Twitter profiles   http://twibbon.com/join/Make-your-mark-6
